"Print Your Own Brochures"
Putting together a brochure should be fun for everyone; these little messengers that point everybody in the direction they intend should be right on point and extremely precise. Brochures should be made to catch attention on sight, thus our choice of color, paper, front cover images and texts should be attention stealers. I reckon we all have at one time or the other found ourselves holding and actually reading a brochure not because we needed to but we requested to take a look because it actually just looked nice.
I have seen a few brochures that should have been attention snatchers, but from the first glance they look ominously wrongly finished. The road to their production as they say was paved with good intentions and what should have been a great advertising campaign or awareness avenue becomes a total let down. I have seen this happen a few times, and it really leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. When you consider the time, effort and good will put into designing a brochure, it is of extreme importance that it comes out just as you intended. A few things can hinder this goal of turning out the perfect brochure; let’s look into some of them briefly.
Let’s start with your choice of brochure maker. If you are an expert in graphic designs, or if you would be hiring an expert t o do the job for you, it should be a walk in the park. For people who like to do it themselves, you should find the brochure making tool that best suits you. Decent work could be turned out from using products like Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design and Quack to mention a few. My advice would be not to get carried away with designing to make it complicated, simple and clear will suffice.
The next thing to consider would be the choice of paper. Choosing the kind of paper on which to print is very important, as it conveys the class and elegance of the brochure. Sticking to widely used glossy paper would be sound advice, but feel free to try out different paper types.try not to be limited in your options, but please consult with a printing expert where possible before you make your choice. Choice of paper will in consequence determine the style of the brochure, Bifold, Trifold or single leaflet, especially for simple campaigns.
Finally, I think all the choices we have made would have been a waste of time if we don’t make the right choice of printer. The wrong choice of printer could make it really hard to see the beauty of our idea or design as it literally takes the shine out of it. I would recommend the use of inkjet printers as they really do turn out decent work. The quality of print is great, they print well on all kinds of paper, making it possible for you to be creative with paper choice. It’s note worthy to mention that no matter how good you look, you portrait looks as good as your choice of artist. Hope you have fun designing and printing your brochures.
Nice write up....
